Safety first Ice Anglers!!!

• Don't go alone..or fish where nobody else is around
• Wear a float suit...a good one.
• Have ice picks if you need to climb out of the water..make sure they are easily accessible. Many can be worn around your neck.
• Have some rope in case you need to help others..toss the rope, don't try to walk on weak ice to pull them out, or you will go in too.
• Have a whistle handy...or something that makes loud noise.
• Get a cell phone that can work even if taking on some water. Many modern phones can.
• Don't fish anywhere you can't make a cell phone call...especially if fishing alone.
• Wear spikes/cleats to help with footing.
• NEVER go out in ice less than 4" thick.
• NEVER fish in areas of current or moving water, as that is likely weak ice.
